Mastering Kelris in BFD: Strategies for Healers

BFD’s encounter with Kelris presents a significant challenge for healers due to the relentless damage output that seems almost unavoidable. While some have successfully conquered this boss, others find themselves grappling with mana issues and line-of-sight (LOS) complications. Here, we explore various strategies and tips to enhance your approach to the Kelris encounter, particularly from a healer’s perspective.

  1. Preparation Is Key:
  • Utilize Shadow Protection Potions (SPP) as a preemptive measure. Pre-potting enhances survivability and helps mitigate the incoming shadow damage during the fight.
  • Ensure your main tank and DPS are well-prepared. Consider having a Retribution Paladin or a Protection Warrior as your main tank, equipped to withstand the incoming damage.
  1. Tank Rotation and Interrupts:
  • Assign specific roles for interrupting crucial abilities. A Rogue or any class with interrupt abilities should focus on Mind Blast, preventing it from causing havoc.
  • A Mage, Feral tank, or another interrupt-capable class should handle chain interrupts effectively.
  • Execute a tank rotation strategy. The main tank, along with a high DPS class, descends first to absorb the initial damage. Once they come back up, another tank takes their place, ensuring continuous tank presence.
  • Tanks should taunt off each other to maintain aggro, and the main tank should manage chain interrupts during their descent.
  1. Down and Up Phases:
  • Coordinate the descent and ascent phases efficiently. While the initial group goes down, ensure Mind Blast interrupts are flawless and the tank can handle the pressure.
  • When the second group descends, the first Retribution Paladin, who went down initially, should take charge of Mind Blast interrupts.
  • Always have at least one tank and healer up top, guaranteeing continuous tanking and healing support.
  1. Backup Interrupts and Sustained Healing:
  • Designate backup interrupters in case primary interrupters go down during the fight.
  • Keep the fight organized, and communicate effectively to minimize LOS issues. Tanks should be responsive to positioning adjustments, ensuring healers maintain LOS for sustained healing.
  1. Transition to Phase 2 (P2):
  • As P2 initiates, every member of the group should consume a Free Action Potion (FAP). Combining the effects of SPP and FAP grants additional time to deal damage to Kelris without hindrance.
  • Shift the focus to cloud management. Drop clouds in the back and strategically kite Kelris to the boss’s outskirts during P2, preventing unnecessary complications.
  1. Adaptability and Contingency Plans:
  • Adapt the strategy based on your group composition. If a healer, particularly the priest, goes down during the encounter, ensure P2 starts while they are still down to facilitate their automatic resurrection.
  • Be prepared for potential DPS loss during the fight. Even with moderate DPS, the combination of SPP, FAP, and strategic positioning should provide sufficient time to defeat Kelris in P2.

By implementing these strategies, healers can enhance their effectiveness during the Kelris encounter in BFD. Coordination, interrupt management, and adaptability are crucial elements for success, turning this challenging boss battle into a conquerable feat for your group.

Understanding Each Class for Beginners – Blader

In this installment, let’s explore the versatile Blader class.

Bladers, the unstoppable force in any online game, are revered for their pure strength and close-quarters combat prowess. Their unmatched melee abilities and robust defenses make them an easy choice for those aspiring to be heroes in the world of Cabal.

Leveling:
When it comes to leveling, the key factor is the attack output per unit of time. While Blader skills tend to be slower, their high attack and amplification compensate for the sluggish attack speed. This combination makes Bladers ideal for leveling, even in a gaming environment with prevalent hacking concerns. Whether or not you use hacks, the Blader’s leveling speed is commendable, easily meeting your requirements. Personally, I would rate the Blader’s leveling ability at 4 out of 5.

Quests (FB):
With high attack, robust defense, and decent accuracy (thanks to the passive Mind’s Eye skill), Bladers excel in soloing most quests and Force Cores (FB). They stand out as the main force in completing Force Cores, and their effectiveness in hacking Force Cores is widely acknowledged. The only drawback is the absence of a skill for aggro management, leading me to rate the Blader’s questing (FB) capability at 4.5 out of 5.

PvP:
In PvP, Bladers are undeniably strong. The combination of powerful equipment and skills allows even moderately geared Bladers to effortlessly defeat opponents. There are three common paths for Bladers in PvP: pure attack, amplification-focused, and crit-focused. Each approach has its strengths and weaknesses, but all make Bladers formidable adversaries. While facing high-defense, high-evasion opponents may pose challenges, overall, Bladers have a strong presence in PvP. I would give the Blader’s PvP capability a solid 5 out of 5.

Group Battles:
Group battles require excellent organization, communication, and strategic intelligence. Bladers can shine in these scenarios by serving as the frontline attackers, leading their allies with unwavering momentum. In the war-torn world of Cabal, where individual heroism often prevails over team-based strategies, Bladers are advised to partner with a supportive Archer for added protection. Given the inherent melee nature of Bladers, deaths are inevitable, making the rating for group battles 4 out of 5.

In Conclusion:
The Blader is an all-encompassing and potent class, embodying strength and versatility. However, success as a Blader is heavily contingent on formidable equipment. If you seek the exhilarating feeling of standing out among the crowd, be prepared to invest in high-quality gear.

The latest patch notes for New World have been unveiled

The latest patch notes for New World have been unveiled, promising substantial changes to the game. These season 1 patch notes are currently accessible on the Public Test Realm (PTR) and introduce several noteworthy alterations. In this article, we’ll explore the most impactful changes highlighted in the latest patch notes.

Grit & Greatsword:
Significant changes have been made to the Grit passive on the PTR. Previously, it required 300 strength for activation, but it now necessitates 300 constitution. Conversely, 300 strength now provides bonus damage to heavy attacks. These adjustments are expected to favor PvP players, enhancing their survivability and build diversity, while diminishing the impact of burst damage and promoting group or zerg encounters.

On the other hand, the Greatsword, already renowned for its high damage output, has undergone some skill nerfs, targeting, and attack speed reductions. Nevertheless, it still delivers heavy attack damage of up to 7,000 against light armor users. The Season 1 patch notes don’t address this heavy attack damage, resulting in Greatsword users benefiting from both Grit and strength bonus damage, potentially making them even more potent. Balancing adjustments, particularly to heavy attack damage, are necessary for the Greatsword.

Musket:
The PTR introduces substantial changes to the musket. Adjustments have been made to its traps and precision. Traps will now enter cooldown only if the attack isn’t interrupted before tossing. Precision with the musket suffers when moving and aiming quickly, making it harder to hit distant targets in rapid succession. However, a new passive ability called Steady Hand improves musket precision when aiming down sight for 2 seconds, contributing to better accuracy.

While players have long called for these changes, the musket’s viability as a weapon, particularly in the War meta, is reduced. It may retain some usefulness as a close-range ranged weapon in Outpost Rush (OPR) due to traps and pinpoint accuracy within 15 meters.

Critical Hits:
The game’s critical damage system has undergone changes. Previously, critical damage was multiplied by other damage modifiers, like headshot or crit mods. Now, critical damage is added to other damage modifiers. This alteration results in slightly lower critical damage when multiple modifiers are involved. For instance, a 1.4 critical hit multiplier and a 1.2 headshot modifier used to yield a total modifier of 1.68, but it now equals 1 + 0.4 + 0.2 = 1.6.

Furthermore, your chance to land a critical hit increases by the weapon’s base critical hit chance for each non-critical hit that is triggered. This change means it takes longer to reach higher critical hit chances. These changes aim to enhance fairness and fun and provide additional balance for developers. Their impact on the meta, especially for the Void Gauntlet, heavily reliant on critical hits, remains uncertain.

Fortify & Rend:
AGS modified Fortify and Rend to directly scale the player’s Armor Rating, eliminating the maximum cap for both. These changes aim to accurately reflect their weight. In the previous system, damage calculations were based on factors like base mitigation and additional damage absorption. In the new system, Fortify scales the player’s total armor.

This change can significantly impact gameplay, as it may lead to more damage taken. A side effect affects the Invigorated Punishment perk, which now deals more damage due to the Orb of Protection’s buff. Maybe you need to use New World gold to improve your attributes to resist more damage.

Bruisers & Equip Load:
Changes to Equip Load passives replace bonuses for outgoing Crowd Control with penalties to CC duration. This change may shift Bruisers into a more support-oriented role, diverting from their current damage-dealing role.

OPR:
In Outpost Rush, individual score gains for capturing or contesting points have been increased. This change aims to reward risk-taking and increase point earners’ influence.

Closing Thoughts:
The upcoming Season 1 patch promises a significant shift in the game’s meta, which has seen minimal change since its launch. While many changes are welcomed, concerns about balancing persist. The adjustments to Grit and Greatsword require further evaluation, particularly related to heavy attack damage. The musket’s nerf affects its viability in the War meta but retains some usefulness in OPR and Arena. Critical hit changes add an additional layer of balance, while Fortify and Rend bring equip loads more in line with their intended purpose.

Overall, these changes are anticipated to rejuvenate the game for the next three months before Season 2.
